The format of Her makes it hard to gain that full picture - we see "Her" (Samantha, a conscious version of Siri) exclusively through the lens of her relationship with a human, so we're not getting a fully rounded view. But she does sometimes talk about her life away from him; her conversations with other AIs and her goals and dreams, which end up diverging sharply from the human's.
This seems like an example of thick storytelling, as opposed to thin thought experiments, as you discussed in an earlier post.chinaphilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14572591745611690731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26951738.post-59213040820055210272022-03-04T14:22:07.229-08:002022-03-04T14:22:07.229-08:00One way of looking at it is it found religion. One way of looking at it is it found religion.Callannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26951738.post-37803514152535193872022-03-03T13:03:20.940-08:002022-03-03T13:03:20.940-08:00Amy kind, could you say something about where '...Amy kind, could you say something about where 'intension' of sentience is, in human sensation emotion mentation, today...
...I.e.: the internal content of a concept. It’s presupposed by the scenario.
The Lassie story presupposes a dog that can communicate that Timmy is stuck in a well. I wonder whether Wells left it ambiguous so that the reader could take it in whatever way they needed to so that we could accept that it has its own conscious point of view?Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15141040566131538098noreply@blogger.com
