Brie Gertler and I Argue about Introspection on Philosophy TV

here.  For what it's worth, I thought it went pretty well.  We were able to home in on some of our central points of disagreement and push each other on them a bit.

I dug the phil tv thing. But I am confused. Do you think that the evil genius can trick you into making phenomenal judgment when there is nothing to judge or just chick you into make incorrect judgments?

I'm inclined to think that the evil genius could do either. However, if "judgment" is thought of as a necessarily conscious thing, then it will not be possible (for trivial reasons of self-fulfillment) for the genius to trick me into judging that I am conscious when I am not.

Is that your belief then? That judgment is necessarily a conscious thing?

Anon, Oct 3: Yes, I use the term "judgment" to refer to a certain type of conscious episode. Others are welcome to use the term differently, as long as it's clear.
